Our Story

BIRTH
In August 2013, Aaron and Lenee Golden were living and serving in local church ministry in Downeast Carteret County. While on a visit to New Bern, NC, God began to stir in the hearts of the Golden’s for the city.  

In November 14, 2014, after a year of assessments, training and fundraising, Lenee’ and Aaron moved to New Bern, NC.  And on January 10, 2015, 12 people gathered for the first time in the home of the Goldens under the banner of Union Point.

THROUGH THE YEARS
From the living room to the Twin Rivers YMCA, to 3551 Trent Rd and currently now at 2912 Trent Rd, Jesus only blessed and grew Union Point New Bern in incredible ways. As one church strengthened, the leaders only grew a depended burden to see other local churches planted throughout our area of Eastern North Carolina.

PRESENT AND FUTURE
What began as a heart for one city, and one local church has only grown and expanded. Our mission has expanded into seeing Jesus and others lifted from New Bern and beyond into other cities and towns in Eastern North Carolina. Union Point is a on mission to lift Jesus and others in ENC. We have seen this happen throughout other cities and states, but also more regionally with the planting of East Point Church in Otway North Carolina.
The question is, where next? Who will go? Maybe this is the beginning of your story and calling.

VISION AND MISSION
For every movement, organization, business or church, we have to identify our purpose. Both as the church and individually, we acknowledge and uphold the truth that our intended purpose as being created by God is to bring Him Glory. Within this purpose to glorify God, we have a specific calling and vision for His church here at Union Point. To help us keep this at the forefront of our hearts and lives, we answer the question, “Why do we exist?” with, “We exist to lift Jesus UP in relationship, community and mission all to the glory of God.” In this vision statement we see how to Lift Jesus and Others UP through properties of our values. These values are the things that define who we are, our culture and our purpose. What you are about to embark on is a deeper look into what lifting Jesus up in relationship, community and mission, looks like for us as a church, you as an individual and how that all meshes together.

We are a family on mission to lift Jesus and others in Eastern North Carolina. It is our mission to see the gospel planted through churches, just like this one, throughout this region. It is a vision that is bold and audacious, but one we feel graciously accepting of and challenged with. We hope that Jesus melds your heart with His purpose here at Union Point, and know that you will become a vital part in Lifting Jesus Up here in New Bern and beyond.
